There's a reason why hotels have become one of the more popular destinations for people who are in love. It is simply because the experience of love is a thrilling adventure and few things fuel the passion of a relationship like the experiencing of new things together.

Whilst you don't necessarily have to go for the Hilton—unless you can afford to, you should ensure that the valentine hotel which you choose is clean, tidy and has reliable hotel service.

You should also avoid bringing your work with you to the hotel. Unless you have some romantic need for your laptop, leave it at home. Remember Valentine’s Day is supposed to be about the two of you.

You should therefore avoid telling too many people where you will be spending your hotel.  This will reduce the likelihood of you being unpleasantly interrupted by visitors who just happened to “drop by”.

For an even more fantastic night, you can plan a candle lit dinner in your bedroom. This can easily be arranged with the hotel staff. If they can't accomodate this, then you can still make your hotel room even more romantic with beautiful flowers such as roses. Ordering this before hand will make the process less stressful.

The spirit of valentine is as much about effort as it is about the eventual experience. You should therefore ensure that you look your best during your stay in the hotel.

Don’t wear anything that might look like it belonged to your grandparent. Instead, dress in sexy outfits...women, dress to kill...men, dress to impress! And don't forget to wear that favourite perfume/cologne your partner loves.

Finally, you can ensure that your loved ones face remains thrilled during your stay by arranging surprise gifts all over the room. You can hide romantic love notes under her pillow or sneak a gift into her handbag when she is not looking.

A box of chocolates is always a lovely thing to share beneath the bed sheets. Its a special day when calories don't exist! Go ahead and ndulge yourself. And at the end of the day, when you both are cuddled beneath the warm sheets of your Valentine’s Day hotel, do not forget to lean over and whisper the words “I love you.”
